Mike Johnson and Friends (and for a time "Skids") (ca 1978-83) — Mike Johnson (lead vocals and acoustic guitar), Willow van den Hoek (backing vocals), John Gonder (mandolin, piano, drums, basically whatever was needed), Dennis ? (mandolin and backing vocals), myself (electric guitar and backing vocals), and others whose names I simply can't remember, sorry! — was a bluegrass-tinged half original (by Mike), half cover band in the East Bay and Marin area.  We played venues like the (original) Freight and Salvage, the Sweetwater Cafe, the Sleeping Lady, and Mike's wife Pat's morning public access television show (!)
